The training day will benefit all Learning Support Teachers, SENCOs and members of the school leadership team and is accompanied by resource pack which enables delegates to cascade training to all school staff as part of planned in-house professional development, and to all new staff as part of induction.
Nasen developed this event based on requests for training from staff in independent schools, and figures from The Independent Schools Council (ISC) Census 2014, which identified 66,579 pupils at schools in the independent sector as having special educational needs.
The aim of the resource is to up-skill the education workforce to ensure staff are able to provide effective support for vulnerable pupils, and know where to find more information should they need it. This training package therefore provides a platform for SEND continuing professional development for all staff, with this course being aimed at the staff within school who will lead on the training.
As part of the training day we will cover four key areas which are also featured in the training pack.
Inclusive Teaching and Learning
Assessing Tracking and Reviewing Achievement
Working with Families and Other Stakeholder s
Developing Pupil Self-Advocacy
