Who should register?

Axcis Education is the only recruitment agency in the UK fully dedicated to Special Educational Needs and Disabilities recruitment. We recruit for Special or Alternative Provision schools as our main focus but also recruit for SEND units within mainstream Primary, Secondary, Colleges and FE. We’re therefore always in need of candidates who have experience working with children and young people with SEND, EBD, SEBD, ASD / ASC / Autism / Asperger’s Syndrome, PMLD, SLD, MLD etc. Click here for a list of Special Needs abbreviations. We offer day-to-day supply work, full-time and permanent roles to candidates depending on what suits the candidates needs best.

Candidates wanting to register for work with Axcis would ideally need to have either previous experience working with special needs in a school setting, or with additional needs in a care setting. We often find that people with a care work background can transition well to working as a teaching assistant in special needs schools. However, graduates or people with no experience but a desire and passion to work in Special Needs are always welcome. Axcis can provide additional training for people with the right attitude, personality and basic skills for working in a special school. We also help mainstream teachers who would like to transition to teaching in Special Needs schools.

As the foremost special needs teaching recruitment agency we work very closely with our corporate partners, the NAS, Network Autism, nasen, the NASS and SSAT to offer CPD training to education professionals. We provide induction training to all our staff and especially and offer regular low cost and sometimes free CPD Training (Continued Professional Development) to all candidates. We have Team Teach trainers on our staff and we train as many of our candidates as possible in this area. We offer twilight courses on Autism Awareness, child protection and safeguarding, and behaviour management. We are also working on developing our links and training for PECS, TEACCH and all kinds of signing.

We help all education professionals who’d like to work with SEND including:

  • SLTs / Senior Leaders Staff, e.g. Head Teachers, Deputy Head teachers, SENDCOs / SENCOs / Inclusion Mangers
  • HLTAs / Teaching Assistants / Learning Support Assistants / Support staff
  • Mentors / Youth Workers / Support Workers / Care Workers

What other candidates from registration days have said about working with Axcis:

Helena has found me lots of work in the Berkshire area. Other agencies kept asking me to go into London for assignments, but the cost of trains and time it takes to get there make it impossible for me. I was nervous at first because I had not worked in a special school, let alone one where some of the behaviour could be so severe. However, Helena assured me that after our interview I had the right personality and attitude. I was asked to attend a Team Teach training course (which Axcis sent me on at a huge discount) and it really helped me to feel confident working with some of the more severe special needs students in school. Since registering, I have now done lots of work in a cluster of local schools and am getting to know the staff and students well. Axcis offer a good rate of pay and have really looked after me. I have referred a few mates sine then as I’ve been happy with the service. Thanks Helena! Tom, Axcis TA

Please book a time to meet with Ade (Ade@axcis.co.uk) and/or Jack Talbot (JackT@axcis.co.uk) between 10am and 6pm on Tuesday , 26th May 2015 so that they know to expect you. They will explain the process to you, let you know what you require for the registration process and do their absolute best to help you find the education role that fits your needs.
