Candidate of the Term Summer 2016 – the winners

COT logo summer 2016Who are the winners of the Axcis Candidate of the Term Summer 2016 awards? And what did they do to go above and beyond the call of duty for the schools they are working in?

The nominees

We had lots of lovely nominations from the schools we work with. These were all published on our blog for anyone who missed them. Selecting two winners wasn’t easy, and all nominees received a certificate of appreciation for the hard work they do, but after much deliberation, our winners were selected, and seemed very surprised when their Axcis consultant showed up at their schools to present them with their awards and shopping vouchers!

And the winners are…

As usual, we had two winners – one for our London office and one for our Regional offices – here is a reminder of their reason for nomination, as well as what they thought about winning their awards:

Hazal’s nomination:

“Hazal has been with us for over 12 weeks and has been consistently reliable, motivated to learn and engaging with

students. We work in an environment that can be highly challenging at times and Hazal has proved herself to be a committed, reflective and supportive team member. Hazal has a fantastic manner with our students and has quickly picked up ways to adapt her communication to effectively interact with the young people in the provision. I think Hazal is highly deserving of the prize and being recognised for being an outstanding learning support assistant.”

What Hazal had to say:

“I was not aware that I was nominated for the candidate of the term hence it took me by surprise to see Leah and Gary at school presenting me with a certificate and a voucher! Working in the Autism Provision has truly been amazing; In a short amount of time I felt part of the team. I would like to thank Axcis and in particular Leah for introducing me to the school and giving me the opportunity to work with a great team and unique students.  I would also like to thank Sophia Hutchings (Director of Autism Provision) for her nomination and recognition”

Carol’s nomination:

“Carol has worked for our service since 27th April 2015 and immediately ‘hit the ground running’ with every aspect of the role.  She has engaged with some extremely hard to reach families and has successfully supported many children into

school, raising not only their attendance but their self-esteem and self-belief.   She works with a very caring attitude but has the ability to challenge where necessary and in the appropriate manner. She is a valuable member of the team in the North but also of the full service.  She has built some excellent working relationships not only with our service but with many schools and partner agencies. She has taken part in many activities either as 1:1’s or group sessions, always making herself available where possible and has even shown a positive interest in being part of an up and coming residential. She is professional, reliable, consistent, always willing to go the ‘extra mile’ and always supportive of the service.  She is an excellent member of our team and consistently represents our service in a positive manner.”

What Carol had to say:

“Thank you so much to Axcis for the vouchers & flowers, I am looking forward to treating myself with my vouchers. Another thank you to Steve and her work colleagues for nominating me and they are a pleasure to work with”
