As a proud sponsor of nasen, Axcis is pleased to support and exhibit at the nasen Collaborative Learning for SEN: The Role of the SENCO Training, taking place at Manchester Metropolitan University on 15th October 2015.
About the event
For SENCOs to meet their responsibilities and ultimately to reach a point where they can effectively act as the in-school SEND specialist, there will be a need to support staff in further developing high quality teaching. How do we do that? Consider the need for continuing professional development (CPD), the nature of effective CPD, how good practice is identified and shared and how to maximise the impact. Most importantly, consider how we can engage our staff and the skillset SENCOs might require to draw upon to do this successfully. To enable SENCOs to help teachers to meet the needs of children and young people with SEN, nasen is providing a series of free training events for members. This training will support SENCOs to start exploring the issues around effective professional development and guide SENCOs in planning for the use of nasen’s new online resource, when it becomes available in the Spring Term 2016.
The training will cover:
- The national context of SEND reform
- The recalibration of the roles of teachers and SENCOs
- Exploration of what collaborative learning for SEN looks like How to engage all staff effectively
- The need for high quality professional development
- Principles and models of effective cpd
- Evaluating the impact of collaborative learning
- Ideas for the effective use of nasen’s new online cpd resource
