At Axcis, we are extremely proud of the fantastic work our SEND teachers and support staff do every day in the classroom. We know that being a supply worker isn’t easy; often you are thrown in the deep end with challenging classes and little time to read up on school policy or procedure and your work could end at any given moment. And yet, we hear so much fantastic feedback about our candidates that we feel it is high time we start to run a “Candidate of the Term” award. Here are a few of the lovely comments from our final week of nominations.
Ioanna, working for Helena in our London office
“I would like to nominate Ioanna as so many teachers and TA’s have commented to me about how helpful, cheerful and most importantly pro-active she is. She can be given any task with complete confidence that it will be completed quicky and efficiently. She has also been very popular with students who feel comfortable in her presence.”
Tessa, working for Helena in our London office
“I would like to nominate Tessa who has been assisting at our school on a regular basis during this academic year. Tessa is very reliable and has worked in several classes across all age groups and abilities forming excellent working relationships with students. Most recently she has been accompanying our GCSE students to the neighbouring mainstream Secondary school. Tessa has been very flexible and always willing to support whichever student she works with. Although initially out of her comfort zone when having to come to our school and go over to the neighbouring Secondary for a student accessing GCSE courses, she is always extremely positive and enthusiastic and has proved very reliable and consistent. Our shhool is a large and highly successful special school offering education and therapy to some 230 students aged 2-19, who, for a variety of reasons require a specialist education. The school’s vision and mission statement is to be the Centre of Excellence for students with special educational needs. Our students’ needs range from requiring additional pastoral and emotional support, through those with moderate and severe learning difficulties to some having profound, multiple learning and complex health problems. Tessa has worked well with the challenges she and our students have faced on a daily basis.”
Sophia, working for Misra in our Bristol office
“Every school she’s been to has raved about her. They’ve all said she’s a friendly, professional candidate with a brilliant a helpful attitude towards children”
Sally, working for Louise in our Bristol office
“Sally works at a NAS school for us, she works incredibly hard and also picks up additional shifts at their residential facility almost every weekend and some weekday evenings.”
Jane, working for Misra in our Bristol office
“Jane completed a placement for us and was very dedicated. She enquired about the pupil’s progress directly with the school a few weeks later to find the pupil wasn’t doing as well without her. Jane suggested she come back through Axcis and has been doing fantastically well ever since.”
