Transforming the Role of the SENCo – Manchester University

It can make good sense to use an agency for SEND vacancies. And at Axcis, we won't charge a penny until we find you someone you want to hire.

Gail – Manager of Axcis Liverpool will be on hand to answer your recruitment questions

On the 9th July, Axcis will be exhibiting at the annual SENCo conference, being held at Manchester University. The conference will have a strong focus on the implementation of the ‘Children and Families Act’ (2014) with a view to enhancing knowledge, skills, attributes and understanding. Among the notable speakers and workshop leaders are Jane Friswell, CEO of nasen, and Lorraine Peterson, former CEO of nasen, now an independent SEND consultant. Axcis often work closely with both of these lovely ladies, so we will be pleased to say hello to them at the event!

The key piece of SEND legislation SENCos now need to be familiar with is Part 3 of the Children and Families Act 2014. However, the SENCo’s ‘bible’ is the SEND Code of Practice (CoP) 2014, which provides an elaboration of the legal requirements and guidance on the education of children with SEND. One of the key roles of a SENCo is to help create a SEND policy in their school, which will ultimately improve the standard of education for pupils with special educational needs or disabilities. It is therefore of the utmost importance that SENCos have a clear understanding of this legal guidance, which is the main focus of this conference.

On the Axcis Stand

Gail and Rachel from the Axcis Liverpool office will be on hand to answer your recruitment questions. As market leaders in SEND, at Axcis, we are very well placed to source staff with the specialist skills and training required to support students with a range of complex needs. Our staff are trained to seek out individuals with not just the right attributes on paper, but with the right attitude and personality to quickly build rapport with students – something we feel is not just essential for all short-term supply staff, but for all individuals working with SEND in particular. Whether you’d just like to have an informal chat about recruiting the best staff, or whether you have a specific vacancy you need help with, Gail and Rachel would love to speak to you at the event.
