This week, our weekly tip comes from Martin. Martin is a Senior Account Manager for Axcis and works in the London office. This means that he works with some of our busiest schools and as such often has day to day work available in the mornings as well as long-term vacancies to fill. His tip is to use your half term break wisely.
If you have a lovely holiday booked – enjoy it! We all need to de-stress and wind down from time to time. As it’s mental health awareness week, we are often being reminded how easily stress turns into mental health issues – so it’s just as wise to ensure you take a break as it is to use your time productively for work.
However, if you’re not going away and plan to spend the summer half term searching for your next job, or trying to enhance your CV, remember that Axcis can help! We have training opportunities available – such as a Team Teach course running in London, and an online Level 2 Safeguarding training course you can sign up for at any time. By completing new training and adding it to your CV, you instantly make yourself more employable.
On the subject of your CV – it never hurts to update and polish yours up. A decent CV is your key to getting a foot through the door in a school. Make sure when you send your consultant an updated version, you also remind them when you’ll be available for work and what your ideal position would be – we find that many of our candidates adjust their search criteria fairly regularly, so keeping us up to date is highly valuable.
So – make sure you take time to unwind, but also make sure you are primed and ready to continue your hunt for that next perfect job when schools go back after half term!
