Hayley’s Tip: Call in early if you can’t make it to work
This week, our weekly tip comes from Hayley. Hayley is a Consultant for Axcis and works in the Liverpool office. This means she meets lots of candidates, talks to lots of new clients and has a very fast-paced desk. Her tip is to make sure you inform us as early as possible if you can’t make it to work for the day.
At Axcis we understand that there will be days when you are sick or unable to make it to work. It happens to all of us from time to time, and although it’s best to minimise the number of days you are off, we know that the odd day will be unavoidable.
You will be helping your consultant tremendously if you make sure they are informed by 7.30am at the latest (we open at 7am) if you are not going to be in work for the day. This is because your consultant has to inform the school, find out if cover for you is required – and if it is – they might have to call up to 20 or 30 candidates before finding someone who is available, ready and can get to your school by 8.30 to cover you. This means if you call any later than 7.30, the odds of having cover at school on time for you are very small indeed!
So if you have a minor ailment and are agonising over whether you think you can make it to school or not, the best course of action is to either get up and get going and give it a go – if you have to go home sick at lunch time because you can’t see the day through then you’ll be respected for at least trying. But if you really don’t think you can make it in, just give us a call nice and early to let us know. It will keep things running more smoothly and the school are less likely to be annoyed that you are not in work, too – so everyone is a winner!
